Archivitaly Access Watch #18

2 Aug 2026

3–9 August 2026

August brings a marked contraction in archival access across Italy. During the week of 3–9 August, researchers will encounter complete closures, reduced opening hours, suspended afternoon sessions, restrictions on document retrieval and temporary service interruptions at several State and diocesan archives. Because summer arrangements vary considerably between institutions—and may be amended at short notice—researchers planning consultations should check the relevant notice and confirm essential visits directly with the archive concerned.
